Subject:  What Jewelry to Wear

Good Morning Ethan & Emily:

On some occasions, your mother will ask me:  Which one of these earrings do you think looks best with this dress?” or “Which necklace should I wear?”  It’s not that your mother has a lot of jewelry, as she doesn’t, but sometimes several items might “work,” and I don’t mind at all helping her decide what to wear.

But the Bible is clear when it comes to some types of “jewelry” and whether to wear it or not.  In Proverbs 3:3-4, we read:  “Never let loyalty and kindness get away from you!  Wear them like a necklace…then you will find favor with both God and people, and you will gain a good reputation.”

And as to how you look, take note of Proverbs 19:22:  “Loyalty makes a person attractive”…not only to others but to God:  “I want your loyalty (i.e., dedicated faithfulness), not your sacrifices.  I want you to know Me, not to give Me burnt offerings” (Hosea 6:6 God’s Word Translation).

In the fashion world, there is a lot of copying of styles and fads.  Christians should be immune to this, but we should never hesitate to “wear” what reflects the virtues and attributes of our Lord.  Because He modeled the perfect example of “kindness” in coming to Earth to save us, so should we demonstrate kindness in our “dress” and actions:  “So we praise God for the wonderful kindness He has poured out on us because we belong to His dearly loved Son.  He is so rich in kindness that He purchased our freedom through the blood of His Son, and our sins are forgiven (Ephesians 1:6-7).

What jewelry should you wear today?  Put on loyalty and kindness and you will be in “heavenly” style.

Have a great day.  I love you…
Dad
