Subject: Watch Your Step!

Good Morning Ethan & Emily:

The most influential book in my life as a young person was the book In His Steps by Charles Sheldon.  After reading this book, the question: “What would Jesus do?” took on a whole new meaning of relevance for me as a person…and has stayed with me throughout my life.  In the last several years, we have seen a resurgence of this questions with all the WWJD (What Would Jesus Do?) bracelets and slogans.

There is no better question you could ask yourself every day of this new year that this:  “What Would Jesus Do…in this situation?”

In my New Living Translation the phrase “in His steps” occurs in 1 Peter 2: 21 where Peter reminds us:  “Christ…is your example.  Follow in His steps.”  Remember…”All athletes practice strict self-control.  They do it to win a prize that will fade away, but we do it for an eternal prize.  So…run straight to the goal with purpose in every step.” (1 Corinthians 9: 25 – 26).

Resolve to do this in 2002…”Follow God’s example in everything you do…be careful how you live…Don’t act thoughtlessly, but try to understand what the Lord wants you to do.  (Ephesians 5: 1, 15, 17)

And you can do this by making it a WWJD year!  Watch your step……..

All my love,

Dad
