Subject: Every Detail of Our Lives

Good Morning Emily & Ethan:

It’s Oct. 12th, and we have been given another opportunity to live…not only to be blessed by God but to be a blessing to others.

Reading this morning, I was reminded of a tremendous fact:  “The steps of the godly are directed by the Lord. He delights in every detail of their lives.” Ps. 37:23.

Isn’t that just awesome?…that God actually takes delight in our individual lives?  But the key factor is that He(God) is so involved with those that are “godly.”  Again, over and over in the Bible, we have the same choice (conscious decision) Moses offered the Israelites as they began their new life in Canaan…of obedience and blessing or disobedience and disaster:

“Today I have given you the choice between life and death, between BLESSINGS and CURSES…Oh, that you would CHOOSE life.  Choose to love the Lord your God and to obey Him and commit yourself to Him, for He is your life.”  Deut. 30:19-20. (Chapter 29 outlines more in greater detail.)

The right decision makes good sense, but so many people go about life “doing their own thing” and always chaffing at really getting down to brass tacks and obeying the Lord in all things.

Not only has God promised to direct the steps of the godly and to take delight in every detail of their lives but also:

“,,, the Lord takes care of the godly” Ps. 37:17

“…the innocent(godly) will survive through hard time…they will have more than enough. (v19)

“Though they (the godly) stumble, they will not fall, for the Lord holds them by the hand.” (What a promise…What a comfort!) (v24)

“…the Lord loves justice, and He will never abandon the godly.” (v28a)

“The Lord saves the godly; He is their fortress in times of trouble.  The Lord helps them, rescuing them from the wicked.  He saves them, and they find shelter in Him. (vv39-40)

And to top it off:  “The godly are showered with blessings….” Prov.10:6

I want every one of God’s blessings and I ask for them each day….and I ask them for each of you.   At the same time, however, I realize I have to do my part to unleash them…and that is to demonstrate my love for Him by obedience to His laws and commands.  This doesn’t mean we are perfect and don’t sin…but the overall general trend of our life and attitude shows what’s really important to each of us.  I pray you feel the same….and will find obedience the wonderful key that is the secret to unlocking the “abundant life” that God offers each one of us.

Have a wonderful day…

Dad

“He(God) will keep them(the godly) safe forever.” (Ps. 37:28b)
