Subject:  We’re All in the Same Boat!

Dear Ethan & Emily:

What we do as parents…and what you will do as parents…affects your children’s lives for a whole generation! 

I am reading this morning from Psalm 112: 1-2:  “Happy are those who fear (revere) the Lord, Yes, Happy are those who delight in doing what He commands.  Their children will be successful everywhere; an entire generation of godly people will be blessed.”

Wow…quite a statement!  Happiness and the blessing of God…what more could anyone want?  Although God’s definition of blessing includes many things…not always material things…we can know that our lives are enriched as He honors our obedience.

In Psalm 103:17, we have the wonderful promise of God’s continuing heritage of love:  “But the love of the Lord remains forever with those who fear (revere) Him.  His salvation extends to the children’s children.”

So, do help us “keep in line” and “toe the mark” as your parents.  We are not perfect by any means, but our foremost desire is to live a married life that sets a good example for our children and one that honors our Lord by obedience…and if we do, you also share in the blessing as God has promised.

We’re all in the same boat…Let’s keep it rowing it Godward!
